The Office of Healthcare Innovation


The mission of the Office of Healthcare Innovation is to facilitate access to integrated healthcare and preventive services that improve the health of Maricopa County residents.

The Office of Healthcare Innovation provides training to healthcare professionals and students emphasizing the health concern associated with tobacco, opioids, and the top four chronic diseases. This include heart diseases, lung diseases, cancers, and Alzheimer’s disease. The trainings provided describe evidence based practices and resources.


Tobacco

  • We provide to help oral health professionals address tobacco use and discuss resources, like ASH Line, that are available to help their patients quit their tobacco use.
  • Tobacco use is the chief preventable cause of death in the U.S.
    • Alcohol - 88,000
    • Illicit Drugs - 70,237
    • Suicide - 47,150
    • Car Accidents - 40,321
    • Homicides - 19,500
    • AIDS/HIV - 15,807
    • Fires - 3,600

Opioids

  • Our online course discusses how oral health professionals can recognize and prevent opioid misuse and abuse.
  • We provide resources for healthcare professionals and their patients for Naloxone, OAR Line, and prescription drop off boxes.

Chronic Disease

  • The death certificate will not say tobacco as the cause of death.
  • We provide resources for healthcare professionals and their patients for Naloxone, OAR Line, and prescription drop off boxes.

Dental

  • Our goal is to provide resources and assistance to oral health professionals.
  • Providing CEUs to dental professionals is one way we support the dental professionals in Arizona.
